History

Apple Meadow True Value Hardware was established in 1977 as a small 700 square foot retail hardware store. At the time the Briguglio family owned and operated Apple Meadow Farm, a poultry farm in Townsend Massachusetts. Sam Briguglio (the patriarch of the family) was often challenged with being able to repair equipment and work on other farm tasks when there was no retail hardware open on Sundays. The opportunity arose when at that time Shattuck Hardware closed its doors and Sam bought the building at 10 Elm Street.

From its small foot print, Sam and then manager Tom Osowski created a special home town hardware store, focused on helping fulfill the growing community’s need for hardware items. With a special attention to “if we can’t get it, you don’t need it”, Apple Meadow True Value Hardware worked hard on expanding the offerings and services. With such community support we were able to add an additional 4000 square feet to our existing foot print, giving us the opportunity to stock more product and add new inventory.

Sam senior retired and left the reins to son Sam and daughter Jane. Both Sam and Jane kept the enthusiasm and pride in his accomplishments alive. Through the years we have added more relevant products and have stayed current to the trends in the industry. With Jane’s passing in 2013, Sam took on the sole responsibly of keeping the family business alive and thriving. Sam’s children Pearl and Sam Jr are currently active in the business and with their enthusiasm Apple Meadow True Value Hardware is poised to thrive with the next generation.

Today,  with a great staff, Apple Meadow True Value Hardware remains customer and community focused.
